WELCOME TO THE MORAY LEADER PROGRAMME WEBSITE
LEADER is a new innovative rural development funding programme for Communities and Groups in Rural Moray.

Part of the new Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP), LEADER is aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas. The current LEADER Programme will run from 2008-2013 and will encourage new and experimental approaches to rural development. The SRDP and LEADER are funded by the Scottish Government and the European Commission.

The new LEADER fund for Moray is an opportunity for participating groups to develop projects that will strengthen the social, economic and environmental fabric of Moray's rural communities.

WHAT IS LEADER?
LEADER (Liaisons Entre Actions de Developpement de L'Economie Rurale - Links between actions for the development of the rural community) is a bottom up rural development programme which aims to improve the quality of life and economic prosperity in rural communities through locally driven rural development initiatives and projects.

The main aim of LEADER is to increase the capacity of local rural community and business networks to build knowledge and skills, innovate and co-operate in order to tackle local development objectives.

Moray has been allocation £1,440,000 of LEADER funds and £400,000 of Convergence funds for the Moray Leader Programme 2008-2013.
